Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) Memovox Tribute To Polaris

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Tribute To Polaris is a brand new addition to the modern day JLC lineup and was just introduced earlier this month at SIHH 2008. It is a 21st century timepiece that is faithful to the ’60’s JLC Memovox Polor, or Polaris, and is a limited edition piece with 768 watches in steel and 165 in 950 platinum.

The JLC Memovox Tribute to Polaris is housed in a 42mm stainless steel or platinum case and features cambered sythentic glass. The watch is water resistant to 200 meters and comes on a black leather strap.

For the Polaris, Jaeger-LeCoultre decided to use their automatic JLC caliber 956 movement which is entirely crafted, assembled and decorated by hand. The movement features 268 parts, 23 jewels, and a 45 hour power reserve. It produces 28,800 vibrations per hour and is 7.45mm thick.

The JLC Polaris functions include hour, minute, small seconds, date, and alarm. The watch also features an internal rotating dial ring and an alarm function.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Tribute to Polaris features triple crowns decorated with vintage gridwork:

  • @ 2 o’clock: Winds and adjusts the alarm
  • @ 3 o’clock: Adjusts the inner rotating dial ring
  • @ 4 o’clock: To wind and reset the movement

I want one! Actually, I want two or more. But why does it not have a alarm-striker lock-down? An improvement in the AMVOX/MEMOVOX series would have been appreciated!
