April 22nd, 2008 — Sinn
The Sinn U1 may possibly be the ultimate divers watch. Housed in a 44mm steel case, the U1 is water resistant to 1,000 meters and comes on a rubber diving strap.
The steel used for the Sinn U1 is special. It was procured from a steel supplier of one of Germany’s North Sea shipbuilding yards who construct submarines from the very same steel (Emden GmbH). This submarine steel possesses an extremely high anti-magnetic quality and is very resistant to the harmful effects of sea water exposure. In short, the U1 is about as indestructible as watches come.
Sinn used an automatic mechanical movement in the U1 which operates at at 28,800 beats per hour and is shockproof and anti-magnetic.
Sinn did a wonderful job with the clean layout of the U1’s matte black dial. The date is displayed at 3 o’clock and Super Luminova is used on the hands and markers. The crystal is made of sapphire glass and it is treated with an anti-reflective coating.
